Quai d'Ouchy is an access road and lakeside promenade running along Lake Geneva in the Ouchy district of Lausanne, Switzerland. The path stays at a flat level along the water, lined with benches and small piers, with the Alps visible on the far shore on clear days.
Ouchy was once a small fishing village before it became a working port for goods and passengers crossing Lake Geneva. Port activity gradually declined and the waterfront slowly shifted toward leisure use over the following decades.
On summer weekends, the road along the quay closes to cars, turning the whole stretch into a shared space for skaters, cyclists, and walkers. Street musicians sometimes play along the way, while cafe terraces fill up with people facing the water.
The surface along the quay is flat and even, making it easy to walk or push a stroller or wheelchair the entire length. The area connects directly to central Lausanne via the M2 metro line, with a stop at Ouchy-Olympique station.
Paddle steamers have been stopping at this quay since the 19th century, carrying passengers between towns around Lake Geneva. Some of those original steamboats are still in service today and dock at the same spot along the waterfront.
