The building on Gran Vía was erected in the early 1920s on the site of the former Palace of Masserano, where the writer Victor Hugo reportedly lived as a young man. After various uses through the 20th century, it was carefully restored for the hotel's opening, with the original character of its facade kept intact.
Brach sits on Gran Vía, one of Madrid's most recognized streets, lined with theaters, cafes, and shops dating from the early 20th century. The hotel's restaurant is styled after classic 1920s Parisian cafes, with wood-paneled walls, leather armchairs, and an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs at work.
