Datça Palamutbükü, Bay on the Datça Peninsula, Turkey

Datça Palamutbükü is a bay on the southwestern tip of the Datça Peninsula in Turkey. It runs along a long shoreline of sand and small pebbles, backed by green hills that slope down to the water.

The bay sits near the ancient city of Knidos, one of the most important Greek trading centers of its time, founded roughly 2,500 years ago on this same peninsula. Archaeological finds from the area show the coastline was inhabited for many centuries before that.

In summer, sailing boats and yachts regularly anchor in the bay, giving the shore a relaxed maritime feel. On Mondays and Thursdays, a small village market draws locals selling olives, almonds, cheese, and honey.

Palamutbükü lies about 15 miles (25 km) from the town of Datça and can be reached by car or shared minibus. The road passes through olive groves and takes roughly 40 minutes, so leaving early helps avoid the peak midday heat in summer.

Near the bay, the International Knidos Culture and Art Academy sits among olive trees and displays sculptures and small galleries in the open air. The academy occasionally runs workshops in painting and crafts, making it an unexpected stop on an otherwise beach-focused visit.
