Hastanealtı Plajı, Beach in Muğla Province, Turkey
Hastanealtı Plajı is a small beach in Muğla Province, near the town of Datça on the Aegean coast of Turkey. The shoreline is mostly rocky with a few patches of sand, and the water in the bay is calm and shallow.
The name Hastanealtı means 'under the hospital' in Turkish, recalling a small hospital that once stood near the shore. The building is long gone, but the name remains the only trace of that period.
The paths leading to the beach are narrow and sometimes steep, so sturdy footwear is a good idea. There is no parking right at the shore, and visitors should bring water, snacks, and sun protection since nearby facilities are very limited.
Even though the beach has almost no facilities, local fishermen still occasionally bring their small boats here in the early morning. Their presence is one of the few things about this spot that has stayed the same over the years.
