Musée Rupert-de-Chièvres

The Musée Rupert-de-Chièvres occupies a former Augustinian convent building and displays art from the 16th to 18th centuries. Art collector Rupert de Chièvres bequeathed his mansion and collection to the Society of Antiquaries of the West in 1886. The building itself originated as an Augustinian convent before becoming a private residence and eventually transforming into the museum that exists today.

The museum displays Dutch and Flemish works by artists such as Valkenborch and Potter, reflecting artistic traditions from the North. These pieces tell the story of trade connections and artistic exchange that linked northern Europe to France during the Renaissance and later centuries.
