Architect Édouard Lardillier designed the theater in 1953, and its official opening ceremony took place on December 16, 1954.
The theater serves as a central venue for TAP - Scène nationale de Grand Poitiers, presenting theater performances, concerts, dance shows, and cinema screenings.
The auditorium accommodates 960 visitors across two levels, with 560 seats in the main area and 400 additional seats in the upper balcony.
The entrance hall displays a remarkable eglomised and engraved glass wall created in Robert Pansart's workshop, representing French artistic craftsmanship.
