Prague Castle Riding School
Prague Castle Riding School, Baroque exhibition building near Prague Castle, Czech Republic
Prague Castle Riding School is a Baroque building with an ornate facade featuring stucco reliefs of jumping horses, weapons, and decorative busts. Today it functions as an exhibition space displaying Czech visual arts and architectural presentations.
The building was constructed in the late 17th century following designs by Jean Baptiste Mathey as a training ground for noble horsemen. It was later transformed and has served as an exhibition space since the mid-20th century.
The riding school was historically a place where nobility trained their horses and remains an important part of the castle grounds today. Visitors can see how the building connects equestrian traditions with contemporary art through its exhibitions and architectural design.
The building is easily accessible on the castle grounds and can be reached on foot while exploring the main pathways. The nearest tram stop is just a few minutes away, making arrival and departure simple.
The building occupies a terrace above underground garages on land where the original larger riding school once stood. This modern adaptation shows how historic sites on the castle grounds have been integrated into contemporary uses.
