Litvínov, Industrial municipality in Most District, Czech Republic
Litvínov is a municipality with expanded powers in the Most District of the Ústí nad Labem Region. The town comprises twelve districts spread across its territory at an elevation of approximately 340 meters.
The town originated from two settlements, Horní Litvínov and Dolní Litvínov, first recorded in 1352. The area later transformed through industrial development, particularly in the 20th century.
The Church of Saint Michael displays Baroque features from the late 1600s and shapes the town's character today. It remains a place where residents gather and religious traditions are maintained.
The town connects easily to nearby areas through trams, buses, and trains running from the local station. Visitors find it straightforward to move around and explore the different districts.
An oil refinery built south of town in 1939 became the country's largest petroleum processing facility. This installation has strongly shaped the area's economy and continues to define the town's character today.
