Bruntál, Historic town in Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic

Bruntál is a town in the Moravian-Silesian Region situated between mountains at approximately 545 meters elevation. It has around 15,000 residents and features a castle with a regional museum, educational facilities, and recreation centers.

The town was founded in 1213 and became the first settlement in Bohemia to receive Magdeburg city law. It then served as a court of appeal for Moravian towns until 1352.

The castle in town displays architectural styles from different periods and draws visitors interested in learning about local heritage. People visit this place to understand how the region developed over centuries.

The town is best explored on foot, with good paths through the streets and toward nearby hills. Most facilities are easily accessible and provide landmarks for visitors exploring the area.

The nearby Uhlířský vrch hill rises above 670 meters and features an old lime tree alley with station markers. This route combines nature with religious tradition along a quiet woodland path.
