Dreisesselberg

Dreisessel is a mountain summit in the Bavarian Forest reaching 1333 meters, topped with natural granite rock formations that rise from the peak. The area features marked hiking paths approaching from multiple directions, giving visitors different route options to reach the top.

The mountain received its current name in the 17th century as the region became better mapped and documented. A detailed boundary survey conducted in 1767 established territorial limits and reflected the mountain's role in regional administration.

The mountain inn at the summit serves as a gathering place where hikers enjoy local food and drinks while taking in the surroundings. This reflects a long tradition of using mountain tops as social centers where people from the region meet and share meals.

The summit features three natural stone formations that resemble chairs, known locally as the Dreisel chairs. Local tradition holds that these rock shapes once served as meeting points for people discussing important matters between neighboring territories.
