Trojmezná hora, Natural monument in Nová Pec, Czech Republic
Trojmezná hora is a natural monument in Nová Pec that rises to 1362 meters (4465 feet) at the convergence of three national borders. Its summit features granite outcrops and scattered spruce forest that define the landscape at this elevation.
The site gained protected status in 1923 when the district authority of Český Krumlov designated it as a natural monument. This early recognition reflected the region's geological and geographical significance.
The mountain is located within the core zone of Sumava National Park and forms part of the wider hiking trail network that links the region's footpaths. Visitors encounter granite formations and spruce forests that shape the local landscape.
The mountain is reached via marked trail 0148, with main rock formations appearing about 700 meters before the Trojmezí junction. Trails remain most accessible during warmer months when conditions are favorable for walking.
The Trojmezí saddle at 1324 meters marks the exact junction where the borders of the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria meet. At this spot, visitors literally stand where three countries converge.
