Archbishop Palace

The Archbishop Palace stands next to Prague Castle and features marble balconies and ornate decorations across three floors with side wings. The facade shapes the appearance of the square with its geometric forms and classical elements.

The palace was built in the 1660s on the site of eight combined townhouses. In the second half of the 18th century, it underwent major Baroque renovation and gained its current appearance.

Inside, visitors can see ornate Paris tapestries and a chapel with painted walls from different periods. The rooms show how archbishops lived and displayed their authority through elaborate decorations.

The palace serves as the residence of Prague archbishops and stands at Hradčanské náměstí 16. Visiting the interior requires advance arrangement through the church authorities.

The building features restored fabric wall coverings and marble elements that reflect influences from Italian designers of the 17th century. These uncommon details result from careful restoration and make the interior particularly valuable.
