Battling Titans, Baroque sculptures at Prague Castle entrance, Czech Republic
Wrestling Titans are two oversized stone figures positioned on massive square pedestals at the gateway entrance of Prague Castle. Each statue was carved with remarkable detail, showing muscular bodies locked in dramatic fighting poses.
The statues were created in 1768 during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa. They were sculpted as part of a major redesign of the castle entrance and sit between a Rococo railing and a gilded arch crowned with a royal emblem.
