Ivančice is a town in the South Moravian Region that includes the districts of Alexovice, Budkovice, Hrubšice, Letkovice, Němčice, and Řeznovice. Located at 210 meters elevation, it sits on the landscape between two major rivers with areas both built up and more open.
King Wenceslaus II granted the settlement royal town status in 1288, which brought special privileges and protections. The town later experienced destruction and was briefly controlled by Hussite forces in the 15th century.
