Palffy Palace, Palace in Malá Strana, Czech Republic
Palffy Palace is a neoclassically designed palace in Prague's Malá Strana district. Its layout includes three enclosed courtyards, an open service area, and a garden wing with a staircase pavilion that work together to create the complete building complex.
The architect František Maxmilián Kaňka designed the building in 1714, creating an example of Prague's transition from Baroque to Neoclassical styles. The palazzo became an important example of this architectural shift in the city.
The interior features two large adjoining halls with mirrors and lounges that still display original decorative details from the early 18th century. These spaces reveal how the family who lived here chose to arrange their rooms and celebrate formal occasions.
The palace now functions as an event venue with a capacity of up to 200 people for standing receptions and 110 guests for seated banquet-style events. The interior spaces are flexible for different types of gatherings and celebrations.
From the summer terrace you can look directly across at Prague Castle in the distance, making this a special vantage point. The building is now protected as a cultural monument while maintaining this modern viewing platform.
