Mumlawski Wierch - 1217 m npm Karkonosze, Mountain summit in Karkonosze, Poland.
Mummelberg, also known as Mumlawski Wierch, is a 1217 m granite summit in the western Śląski Grzbiet of the Karkonosze, on the Polish-Czech border. Its slopes and top are covered with upper-montane spruce forest and dotted with hanging peat bogs fed by springs. The state border crosses the summit.
The summit is a secondary peak of Luboch, 1.5 km to the south-east, in the western Śląski Grzbiet, with Kamiennik to the east. Its Czech name Mumlavská hora, German Mummelberg and Polish Mumlawski Wierch all refer to the Mumlava, the river rising on these slopes. The Polish-Czech state border runs across the summit, and the mountain lies within Karkonosze National Park and the Czech Krkonošský národní park.
The name Mummelberg, used in German, and the Czech Mumlavská hora both refer to the Mumlava, the river that rises on these slopes; the Polish form Mumlawski Wierch follows the same root. The summit lies exactly on the Polish-Czech state border, so a walker on the unmarked ridge path crosses from one country to the other without any sign.
No marked trail reaches the summit; only an unmarked border ridge path runs from Szrenica west to Novosvětské sedlo. The peak lies in zone I of the Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP), where entry is prohibited, so the summit itself cannot be visited. The green trail from Jakuszyce to Hala Szrenicka passes low on the north-east slope.
The summit lies on the state border between Poland and the Czech Republic, and the border ridge path from Szrenica to Novosvětské sedlo passes through it. Because the peak sits in zone I of the Krkonoše National Park (KRNAP), entry is prohibited and the summit cannot be reached.
