Rašeliniště Jizerky

Rašeliniště Jizerky is a protected peat bog reserve featuring open moorland, dwarf pine thickets, and spruce forests on elevated terrain. The landscape varies based on moisture levels and altitude, with different vegetation types arranged in distinct layers.

The area was officially designated as a nature reserve in 1960 to protect its rare bog ecosystems and specialized species. This early recognition by authorities showed they understood how important such places were for conservation.

The place serves as a refuge for rare bog plants and specialized insects that thrive only in wet, acidic soils. Visitors can observe how these habitats support life throughout the seasons and adapt to changing conditions.
