Mikulčice Archaeopark

Mikulčice Archaeopark is an excavation site in the Czech Republic preserving remains from the Great Moravian period. The location contains church foundations, defensive structures, graves, and palace ruins that illustrate early Slavic settlement patterns.

Settlement began in the 8th century when the area emerged as a regional power center. The site's prominence lasted until the early 10th century when it was gradually abandoned.

The stone church foundations scattered across the site reveal how early Slavic communities practiced their faith and organized their spiritual life. These buildings show the importance of religion in the daily existence of those who inhabited this place.

The visitor center offers exhibitions, multilingual information panels, and guided tours to help you understand the site. Wear comfortable shoes and plan for a leisurely walk across the grounds to see everything at a relaxed pace.

Glass panels positioned throughout the park display virtual reconstructions of original buildings as they once stood. This technique helps visitors mentally reconstruct the ancient settlement and understand its original layout.
