Great Moravia Footbridge

The Great Moravia Footbridge is a bicycle bridge in Moravská Nová Ves that spans 270 meters and rises 7 meters above river level. The structure features a 4-meter wide asphalt surface and is supported by steel pillars reaching 17 meters in height.

The bridge opened in 2019 and addressed a long gap in crossing options after ferry service ended in 1918. The project responded to the region's need for better bicycle connections.

The bridge's name references the historical Great Moravian Empire, linking present-day infrastructure with the region's medieval past. This connection becomes tangible as you cross the structure and notice how it honors the area's heritage.

The bridge is wheelchair-accessible and connects to 33 marked cycling paths as well as the international Eurovelo 13 route. The asphalt surface can become slippery in wet conditions, so sturdy footwear is recommended.

Information boards scattered along the path share details about local plant life and regional history that visitors often miss. These details transform the crossing into something beyond a simple practical connection.
