Danube House, Administrative building in Karlín, Czech Republic
Danube House is a modern administrative building in Karlin with two central atriums that shape the spatial experience. One side opens toward the river with walkways and elevators, while the other side shields against street noise.
The building was completed in 2003 and marked the beginning of transforming a former railway industrial site into a modern office district. It was the first structure of the River City Prague development project.
The red sandstone facade references Prague's medieval building traditions and creates a visual link to the historic city center. Visitors notice how this material choice connects the building to local architectural heritage.
The building contains extensive office space spread across multiple levels and sits near public transportation and the city center. The location is easy to reach with good connections to tram and metro networks.
Two stacked atriums in the building's core allow natural light to penetrate deep into the office areas. This arrangement also improves air circulation and creates unexpected sight lines throughout the structure.
