Karviná Prison is a correctional facility in the city of Karviná in the Czech Republic that holds individuals serving sentences for criminal offenses. The building operates with a capacity of around 180 inmates and contains individual cells for two to four prisoners, specialized units for those requiring heightened security, and work areas where those able to work perform duties.
The facility was constructed during World War I in 1915 and 1916 and has served as a prison ever since. Its modern phase began in 1997 when the building reopened after major renovations and began receiving its first inmates under a reformed system.
