Tříjezerní slať, Mountain peat bog in Modrava, Czech Republic.
Tríjezerní slať is a peat bog in Modrava with three lakes of different sizes, surrounded by spruce forests, mountain pines, dwarf birches, and specialized wetland plants. Marked trails cross the site and allow visitors to observe the natural structure and different stages of bog development up close.
The bog began forming after the last ice age and developed over many centuries into a complex wetland. This slow transformation shaped the landscape that exists today and made it significant as a record of how the region's environment changed.
The name refers to the three lakes visible in this location. Visitors walk the trails to experience the natural landscape of the Bohemian Forest region in its untouched form.
Access is via a marked trail that starts from Modrava village and is easy to reach. The village has parking facilities and regular bus service, making it possible to visit without a personal vehicle.
The largest of the three lakes has a distinctive brown color caused by natural acids from the peat. This visible coloring makes it possible to observe the chemical workings of the bog ecosystem simply by walking around the shore.
