Rozhledna Špičák u Železné Rudy

Rozhledna Špičák is a 26.5 meter steel tower with wooden cladding that rises on a ridge to give visitors a wide view across the surrounding landscape. A staircase of 135 steps climbs to the upper platform, where roughly 60 people can stand together to enjoy the panorama.

The tower was built in 2014 after decades of planning that had envisioned an earlier wooden design. The switch to a steel structure provided a more durable solution that defines the hilltop to this day.

The tower connects visitors with the natural character of the Šumava region, offering views across forests and meadows that shape how locals experience their landscape. People come here to understand how the border region creates a unique connection between Czech and German territory.

The tower sits near the chairlift station and is open during daylight hours, with extended access on weekends. The surrounding area has walking trails, and reaching the top is straightforward if you are able to climb the interior staircase.

On clear days, visitors can see the Dachstein Alps and several prominent peaks of the region, including distant mountain ranges. This extended sight line reveals how exposed this location truly is and why it attracts landscape photographers.
