The waterfall and surrounding forest area received national nature reserve status in 1972 to protect the mountain ecosystem and ancient woodland.
The landscape around the waterfall contains centuries-old spruce, fir, and rowan trees, forming part of the protected mountain forest ecosystem.
Visitors can access the waterfall via a marked red tourist trail leading from Černé Lake, ending at a wooden viewing platform above the falls.
The waterfall sits at an elevation of 940 meters in the Královský hvozd area, where some trees reach ages of 250 years.
