Beuronská kaple

The Beuron Chapel is a Renaissance Revival prayer room located within a school building and stands out for its painted interior walls. The entire space features religious imagery applied directly onto plaster using a specific fresco technique that covers both the walls and ceiling.

Benedictine monks from a German abbey decorated the space in the late 19th century following their own artistic tradition. This work marked one of the earliest spreads of this art style across the Bohemian region.

The chapel bears the name of the Benedictine community that decorated it, and their artistic approach shapes every detail on the walls. Visitors can directly experience this specific form of religious art and understand how it defines the space.

The rendering of the Last Judgment on the altar wall follows an artistic interpretation rarely seen in Central Europe. This work shows how the monks put their personal vision into a religious space.
