Vila Ahlan, Cultural monument villa in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic

Vila Ahlan stands at Sadová Street 53 (No. 1075) in Karlovy Vary's Westend district, built 1896–1898 to plans by Viennese architect Robert Příhoda. The two-storey house with basement, raised ground floor and attic has an irregular plan; its north entrance front is three-axis, flanked by Ionic columns carrying an elliptical balcony, with a cylindrical bay on the northwest corner under a helmet roof. A massive square tower with an octagonal French pyramid roof marks the southeast corner, and the facade is rusticated at ground level.

Built 1896–1898 as Villa Splendid, it rose in the Westend villa district founded in 1872, where a building plan for the upper Parkstrasse (today Sadová) was set in 1896. Viennese architect Robert Příhoda drew the plans in 1897 and construction began that year. Arthur Maier owned it from 1907 to 1935; in 1912 builder Karl Heller added bathrooms, and in 1935 Oswald Richter converted the attic into an apartment. Nationalised on 11 August 1948, it was renamed Tajga.

The villa's name changed with its owners: it was built as Splendid, bore the name Maier while owned by Arthur Maier from 1907 to 1935, and was renamed Tajga after nationalisation on 11 August 1948. The name Ahlan is used today. The original name Splendid was mounted in the wrought-iron roof cresting.

Vila Ahlan stands at Sadová Street 53 (No. 1075) in the Westend quarter, in the upper part of the former Parkstrasse. The entrance, north facade faces Sadová Street; the garden entrance on the ground floor takes the form of a grotto with a shell-shaped arch. The building now belongs to the Mignon II treatment complex and is listed in the cadastre as a civic amenity owned by Mignon-II s. r. o.

A hydraulic Stigler passenger lift by Theodor d'Ester of Vienna was installed beside the internal staircase as early as 1897, making it one of the villa's original fittings. The mansard roof once carried the villa's first name, Splendid, in wrought iron.
