The Fountain in Horní náměstí, also called the Sphere Fountain or Sun Fountain, is a 1971 work by Ivo Klimeš. At its centre sits a sphere 2.3 m in diameter representing the Sun, with water jets around it in summer.

The fountain was created in 1971 by sculptor Ivo Klimeš. Its central sphere, 2.3 m in diameter, represents the Sun. It later inspired the Opava solar system model at a scale of 1:626,576,000, made up of 11 stops on the Opava Planetary Trail.

The fountain is also called Koule (Sphere) or Slunce (Sun). Its 2.3 m sphere represents the Sun and inspired Opava's scale model of the solar system, 1:626,576,000, laid out along the Planetární stezka with 11 stops. In summer water jets around the sphere; for events, artists from the Gottfrei gallery dress it in other shapes.

The fountain sits on the main square with easy access to nearby shops, cafes, and bus stops. Visitors can explore the square at any time of day and the surroundings are flat and easy to walk around.

The 2.3-metre sphere in the basin represents the Sun and later inspired Opava's scale model of the solar system, 1:626,576,000, laid out over 11 stops on the Planetární stezka. For social events, artists from the Gottfrei gallery dress the fountain in other shapes and costumes.
