Harvest Moon Cafe, Farm-to-table restaurant in Sonoma, California.
Harvest Moon Cafe was a farm-to-table restaurant in Sonoma with a small dark stucco interior, compact open kitchen, and two bars displaying wine and bread. An outdoor patio extended toward the back with a tent covering installed during winter months for year-round dining.
Nick and Jen Demarest opened the restaurant in January 2006 using credit cards and a home equity loan to fund their startup. The establishment operated for more than a decade before closing in September 2019.
The place built its identity on direct partnerships with local growers, sourcing produce from suppliers like Paul's Produce. This farm connection shaped the daily menu and made visitors feel part of a regional food network.
The interior space was compact, so the outdoor patio offered more comfortable seating and natural light for most of the year. The tent setup during colder months helped guests enjoy dining outside even when the weather turned chilly.
Each evening the kitchen prepared a focused menu featuring just six appetizers and five entrees, prioritizing quality over quantity. The house-made charcuterie was prepared fresh daily, showcasing the craft behind every plate.
