Cedar Lake East Beach

Cedar Lake East Beach features a natural sandy shoreline with clear waters, drinking fountains, and walking paths along the waterfront.

The beach area transformed from a railway-adjacent shoreline in the 1860s into a public recreation space through the development of an earthen causeway.

During the 1960s and 1970s, the beach became a meeting point for alternative communities and local artists, including the band Hüsker Dü.

The beach operates from 6 AM to 10 PM daily without lifeguard supervision, and visitors can access it by bus, bicycle, car, or walking.

Water quality monitoring occurs weekly, with authorities posting advisories when bacteria levels exceed Minnesota state guidelines.
