Cannibal, Steel roller coaster in Farmington, United States
Cannibal is a steel roller coaster at Lagoon in Farmington, Utah. Its red track climbs a 208-foot (63 m) enclosed elevator tower, drops at 116 degrees, and runs through a 20-foot-deep tunnel, four inversions including the Lagoon roll, and a helix above a man-made waterfall.
The park opened this attraction in 2015 after a two-year construction period. The design and build took place entirely in-house, an approach rarely seen among amusement parks.
The ride's name and its "Lagoon roll" inversion, two heartline rolls turning in opposite directions, are the park's own coinages. Lead designer Dal Freeman headed a team that built nearly 75% of the coaster in-house with several Utah firms, and the trains run on lap bars alone.
Riders board twelve-passenger trains arranged in three rows of four, held only by lap bars. The ride lasts about two and a half minutes and pulls up to 4.2 G's. The enclosed elevator lift climbs the brown tower before the 116-degree drop.
The main drop tilts beyond 116 degrees, sending riders into a backward-leaning free fall. Near the end, the train spirals through a full rotation directly above an artificial waterfall.
