Selfridge Military Air Museum

Selfridge Military Air Museum is located on an active air base and displays restored aircraft and helicopters outdoors along with vehicles on the grounds. Inside, smaller exhibits show engines, cockpits, and uniforms from various aircraft.

The museum was founded in the 1970s and grew as a collection of aircraft from various wars and conflicts. A location change happened around the year 2000 to adapt to new security requirements.

The collection shows military objects from different periods of American aviation history. Visitors can see how aircraft technology and equipment changed over the decades.

Visitors must present a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance before entering, since the museum is located on military grounds. It's helpful to have these documents ready and check access rules beforehand.

The hangar building houses a scale model of the Wright Flyer and a restored fighter plane from World War I. These rare exhibits let visitors see early aviation technology up close.
