Tate House

Tate House is a three-story brick residence with an octagonal tower and mansard roof located at 100 S. King Street in Morganton, North Carolina. The building features a center hall floor plan with three bays and retains architectural elements from both its original construction and later renovations.

The house was built around 1850 in Greek Revival style as a residence for an established family. Samuel McDowell Tate commissioned major modifications in 1868, adding the Second Empire elements that define its appearance today.
