John P. Lawrence Plantation, plantation in Granville County, North Carolina

John P. Lawrence Plantation is a historic house in Granville County, North Carolina, built around 1845 in the Greek Revival style. The two-story residence with a rectangular shape sits on a brick basement and features a gently sloped hipped roof, with a single-story porch at the front.

The plantation house was built around 1845 during the height of tobacco farming in the region, reflecting the architectural preferences of that era. In 1988, the site was added to the National Register of Historic Places to preserve its historical importance.

The property sits on approximately 8.5 acres of land near Grissom and offers plenty of space for exploration. The location is accessible via NC 1700 road, allowing visitors to walk around the main house and outbuildings like the smokehouse, corn crib, and stable.

The main house was constructed with heavy timber framing, showcasing the craftsmanship of local builders from the 19th century. The separate kitchen, smokehouse, and other outbuildings were strategically arranged to keep fire hazards away from the residence.
