W. T. Waggoner Building, Office building in downtown Fort Worth, United States
The W. T. Waggoner Building is an office building in downtown Fort Worth that rises 20 stories with a white brick facade and terra cotta detailing. The upper floors feature a U-shaped design with an arch spanning between the 18th and 19th stories.
The building was constructed between 1919 and 1920 as the headquarters for William Thomas Waggoner. It later housed the Continental National Bank until 1957.
The entrance features a two-story marble base and ornate lobby that reflected early 20th century elegance when first built. Today, visitors still see these refined details when walking through the main entrance.
The building was converted into the Sandman Signature Hotel in 2023 and now houses 240 rooms and meeting spaces in downtown. Visitors can stay at the hotel or view the building's architectural features from the street.
The U-shaped design and the arch spanning the 18th and 19th stories were created to bring more natural light into the interior spaces. This innovative structural approach was an early example of architects thinking about how daylight could improve work environments.
