Electric Building

The Electric Building is an 18-story Art Deco structure in downtown Fort Worth featuring six-foot windows and original terra cotta accents as defining architectural details. The building now houses one, two, and three-bedroom apartments along with a fitness center and laundry facilities.

Architect Wyatt C. Hedrick designed this structure during Fort Worth's commercial expansion in the early 20th century. The building earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places as a testament to the city's early modernization period.

The structure grew out of its original function as a power utility building and visitors can still see traces of this industrial past in the exposed elements and raw materials throughout the interior. The retained original details connect people to Fort Worth's early development as a modern city.

The structure sits in downtown Fort Worth on West 7th Street within easy walking distance of the central business district. Keep in mind that this is an active residential building, so access to common areas may be limited to residents or guests.

The upper floors contain penthouse units with contemporary finishes that create a striking contrast against the preserved industrial elements and original architectural details throughout the building. This juxtaposition shows how the structure successfully bridges its utility-focused past with modern residential needs.
