Nethercutt Collection

The Nethercutt Collection is a museum in Sylmar, California, focusing on early 20th-century automobiles displayed across two buildings. The vehicles come from American and European makers known for luxury and engineering during that period.

J.B. Nethercutt founded the collection in the early 1970s after restoring vehicles that won recognition at competitions. The museum grew over decades into a center for vehicle preservation and historical engineering.

The main hall recreates early 20th-century showroom elegance with polished floors and high ceilings where each vehicle sits as if waiting for a buyer. Visitors walk between rows of cars arranged by era and origin, studying details in bodywork and interiors no longer made today.

The museum offers free visits on select days with guided walks where participants move between vehicles and hear explanations from staff. Those exploring without a guide can wander at their own pace but should check opening days in advance.

All vehicles are kept in running condition and occasionally participate in events outside the museum. A workshop on site ensures engines, transmissions, and details work at any time.
