Mission San Fernando Rey de España

Mission San Fernando Rey de España is a mission station in Mission Hills within Los Angeles in the United States. The main building features a long arcade with nineteen arches and includes rooms such as a chapel and cellars used for winemaking.

The founding took place in 1797 by a Franciscan friar during the Spanish colonial period in California. The site lost its original religious function after secularization in the mid-19th century and was later rebuilt.

The mission church walls display Native American designs, while a hand-carved wooden statue of Ferdinand III from Spain stands above the altar.

The site sits north of downtown Los Angeles and is easily reached by car. A walking route leads through the different rooms and the courtyard with views of the long arcade front.

A hand-carved wooden figure from Spain stands above the chapel altar and depicts Ferdinand III. The site preserves the only remaining original wine cellar among all California missions.
