O'Melveny Park

O'Melveny Park is a large nature reserve located in the Santa Susana Mountains with multiple hiking trails winding through the terrain. The park contains sections with native vegetation and provides space for outdoor recreation.

Attorney John O'Melveny acquired the land in the 1940s as C.J. Ranch and later facilitated the city's purchase at a reduced price. The conversion to a public park took place over the following decades.

The park serves as a space where visitors encounter California's native plants and observe local wildlife in their natural surroundings. People come here to experience the landscape and connect with the region's natural character.

The park is accessible daily from sunrise to sunset with the main entrance located on Sesnon Boulevard. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water, especially on warmer days.

A grove of grapefruit trees stands near the main entrance, a remnant of the site's earlier agricultural past. Commemorative plaques scattered throughout the grounds tell the story of the place.
