The San Fernando Pioneer Memorial Cemetery occupies 3.8 acres at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Bledsoe Street in Los Angeles County.
Established in 1874 during the creation of San Fernando Township by Senator Charles Maclay, this cemetery served the community until its final burial in 1939.
Native Daughters of the Golden West transformed the abandoned cemetery into a memorial park in 1959, preserving the legacy of San Fernando Valley pioneers.
The San Fernando Valley Historical Society opens the cemetery to visitors on the third Saturday of each month, offering guided tours through its memorial grounds.
A ground-penetrating radar survey conducted in 2010 revealed 214 gravesites, though historical records suggest more than 600 burials occurred at this location.
