Waherak Maihar, Historic outrigger canoe in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
The traditional wooden vessel measures 26 feet in length with a 3-foot beam, constructed using native materials including coconut, pandanus, and breadfruit.
Built in 1958 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, Waherak Maihar represents the maritime heritage of Caroline Islands.
The outrigger canoe demonstrates the traditional boat-building techniques of the Chamorro people, who navigated these waters for generations.
The vessel is stored at Saipan's main public works compound, where visitors can examine the construction methods of Pacific Island watercraft.
The Poluwat islanders donated this canoe for the 1976 Operation Sail event, celebrating the United States Bicentennial commemoration.
