Harvey Elgart, owner of Cobble Hill Cinemas, contracted with developer Blue Zees in early 2012 to build the multiplex, which his son Noah Elgart owns. Construction finished that year and Williamsburg Cinemas opened on December 19, 2012. It has hosted many premieres, including the 2015 Fantastic Four film on August 4, 2015.
