Fraenkel Gallery

Fraenkel Gallery is housed on the fourth floor of 49 Geary Street and presents contemporary and historical photographs through regularly changing exhibitions. The space focuses on connections between photography and other artistic mediums across two centuries.

The gallery was founded in 1979 and has become a significant venue for photography in San Francisco since then. Nearly 400 exhibitions have been presented, showing how photography and its relationship to other arts have evolved over time.

The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM. It is located in an office building, so visitors need to take the elevator to the fourth floor and should expect an indoor gallery setting without street-level visibility.

FraenkelLAB is a dedicated space within the gallery for experimental photography projects and artistic collaborations. This area allows visitors to discover contemporary work in new and unexpected ways.
