Mashamoquet Brook State Park spans over 900 acres of forest land with natural rock formations, including Table Rock and Indian Chair along the stream banks.
Sarah Fay donated the initial eleven acres of hemlock-lined gorge to Connecticut in 1918, leading to the establishment of the state park.
The Wolf Den within the park marks the location where Israel Putnam eliminated Connecticut's final documented wolf in 1742, earning national historic recognition.
The park maintains two separate campgrounds, with Wolf Den Campground offering modern amenities including showers and running water for overnight visitors.
Mashamoquet Brook, named from a Mohegan term indicating excellent fishing conditions, supports populations of brook, brown, and rainbow trout.
