Megunticook Golf Club occupies 66 acres on the east side of the Beachamp Point peninsula, separating Rockport Harbor from Penobscot Bay. Its nine-hole course extends west beyond Beachamp Street, and the single-story clubhouse sits on a high point near the course's centre, with a broad wraparound porch, rubblestone foundation and stained shingle exterior.

The club was established in 1899 and opened in 1902, making it Maine's oldest surviving private golf course. The layout was designed by Warren H. Manning in 1912 and continues to shape how the site appears today.

The clubhouse interior is divided into a reading room, a main club hall and a ladies' parlor, a layout that separated social functions and gendered spaces typical of early 1900s private clubs. The building was designed by Boston architect Charles Brigham and opened in 1902.

The facility sits on a peninsula with natural elevation changes and rock outcroppings that challenge players. Visitors should prepare for uneven ground and wear comfortable shoes to navigate the terrain.
