The building was constructed in 1930 and was the first facility of its kind producing these gases in Indianapolis. The factory became a significant part of the city's industrial growth during that era.
The building displays Art Deco design details with limestone and metal ornaments that reflect how industrial manufacturing was developed in Indianapolis during the early 1900s.
