Mount Cruiser, Mountain summit in Mason County, United States
Mount Cruiser is a 6,104-foot (1,860 m) summit in the Olympic Mountains of Mason County, Washington, and the highest point on Sawtooth Ridge. It rises in Mount Skokomish Wilderness on Olympic National Forest land, with two sub-peaks, Alpha (6,040 ft) and Beta (5,920 ft), the latter on the Olympic National Park boundary.
Paul Crews and Ray Layton made the first ascent in 1937 and named the peak for their Bremerton Ski Cruisers club. The United States Board on Geographic Names officially adopted the name Mount Cruiser in 1961.
The mountain stands within Mount Skokomish Wilderness, offering six established technical climbing routes ranging from class 5.0 to class 5.7 difficulty levels.
The hike starts from a ranger station and passes through different forest types as elevation increases. The route is more accessible during warmer months and provides several water sources along the way.
Two nearby peaks with lower elevations flank the main summit and one of them marks a boundary line to a large national park. This arrangement creates an interesting geographic link between two protected areas.
