Mount Bretherton

Mount Bretherton rises 1,817 meters above sea level within Olympic National Park, positioned south of Upper Lena Lake in the Olympic Mountains range.

The United States Board on Geographic Names designated this peak in 1890 to honor Bernard Joseph Bretherton, a naturalist from the Olympic Mountains Exploring Expedition.

The mountain represents a destination for mountaineers who document their ascents and share technical information about routes through the Pacific Northwest climbing community.

Hikers reach the summit through an eight-mile trail from Upper Lena Lake, gaining 5,300 feet in elevation with optimal climbing conditions from July through September.

The mountain's drainage system contributes to three distinct creeks - Boulder, Delta, and Lena - which flow south into the Hamma Hamma River.
