Ballou Hall, Administrative building at Tufts University campus in Medford, United States.
The red brick Italianate structure features a Roman Ionic portico entrance, sandstone trim details, and six paneled chimneys above a slate roof.
Constructed in 1854 as Tufts' first academic building, Ballou Hall was designed by Boston architect Gridley J.F. Bryant at a cost of 38,000 dollars.
Originally housing the chapel, library, and dormitories, the building now functions as the central administrative center for Tufts University.
Located at 419 Boston Avenue, the building measures one hundred feet by sixty feet and contains offices spread across multiple floors.
The building's identity remained uncertain until Bryant's signature was discovered on a college legal document, confirming his role as architect.
