Al-Turath University, Private Iraqi University
Al-Turath University is a private institution in Baghdad with modern classrooms and laboratory facilities. The campus houses fourteen colleges with thirty-five departments covering fields such as science, engineering, medicine, and arts.
The university was founded in January 1988 as the first private university in the Middle East and Iraq. It was established by the Arts and Heritage Association, which had been operating since 1946.
The name reflects the Arabic word for heritage and tradition, connecting the institution to local values and history. Visitors notice a place where students from different backgrounds come together and share ideas across disciplines.
Visitors should know that the university requires an entrance exam and accepts about half of applicants based on academic records. The campus offers libraries, sports facilities, and support services to help students with their studies and career planning.
The institution places strong emphasis on research through close collaboration between faculty and students on innovative projects. It regularly organizes conferences, seminars, and training sessions to exchange knowledge with international participants and expand its presence beyond Iraq.
