Al Haj Bonnea Mosque is a modern building in the Al-Karkh district featuring a distinctive oval dome shaped like an egg. The complex includes a main prayer hall, women's section, garden, courtyard, and library.

Construction of this religious building was completed in 1974 through initiatives that prioritized locally sourced materials from Iraq. The project reflected a desire to create a modern place of worship using the country's own resources.

The interior walls display Arabic calligraphy of Quranic verses created by a distinguished calligrapher from Baghdad. This artistic decoration shapes the prayer experience and reflects the country's artistic traditions.

The location sits near Baghdad Central Station and the Iraq Museum, making it accessible to visitors. The prayer hall can accommodate up to 1,000 worshippers and includes modern facilities.

The minaret is 55 metres tall, octagonal with a 3-metre diameter, and clad in blue Karbala tiles. The mosque's white stone came from Mosul, cut and engraved in the work yard, and only steel and electrical materials were bought from the local market.
